Daphene Francis, PhD

Dr. Daphene Francis completed her Undergrad in Nursing through a collaborative program at Ryerson University in Canada and graduated with an Honours Bachelors Nursing Science Degree and Psychology Minor. She was later selected by the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California Davis (UC Davis) as one of 33 students comprising the inaugural Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate class in 2010. After completing her Master’s Degree, Dr. Francis was admitted to the PhD program and graduated with a PhD in Nursing Science and Health Care Leadership from UC Davis in 2016.
As a global citizen with ties to a few countries through personal and professional relationships, Dr. Francis understands first-hand how Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices and policies impact health outcomes, education access and job opportunities for many BIPOC individuals globally. In her most recent work Dr. Francis was a member of the EDI taskforce at a post-secondary academic institution in Southern Ontario and assisted them with securing grant funding for their EDI initiatives. Dr. Francis strives to continue exploring EDI through open dialogues and collaborations with the Canadian Centre for Learning (CCL).
